Job Responsibilities
- Check patients in for appointments and verify demographics accurately.
- Complete check-in procedures, monitor patient wait times, and communicate any changes to patients.
- Read and interpret insurance responses.
- Understand insurance guidelines and rank requirements to assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance correctly per encounter.
- Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, and obtain required legal and financial signatures.
- Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
- Complete regulatory forms with patients.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, including specialty or ancillary services, as needed.
- Process messages related to appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
- Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities and collect payments accordingly.
- Perform cash posting following departmental guidelines.
- Follow organizational and HIPAA guidelines to ensure privacy, confidentiality, and patient rights.
- Work independently to resolve accounts timely.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Maintain high confidentiality standards.
- Perform medical record maintenance and releases accurately.
- Assist with referrals and pre-certifications during encounters.
- Utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists properly.
