Patient Access Representative (PRN) The Patient Access Representative (PAR) plays a crucial role in the emergency center's operational efficiency by ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process for patients. The role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety. This position is integral to fostering a supportive and efficient environment in the Emergency Center, ensuring patients receive the care they need while upholding the standards of the healthcare facility.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESFront Desk Operations:Greet patients and guests with a cheerful demeanorDetermine necessary services and direct patients accordinglyCollect demographic information and ensure proper signatures for billing accuracyMaintain logs of patient information and manage phone inquiries professionallyManage office supplies and maintain a clean and welcoming environmentFinancial Responsibilities:Collect payments via cash, checks, and credit card for co-pays and account balancesMaintain an accurate financial ledger and perform daily reconciliation of patient accountsFacility Cleanliness:Assist in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility, including patient areas and restroomsCommunication Skills:Interact courteously with patients, families, physicians, and team members, upholding the Emergency Center's core valuesProfessional Development:Attend monthly staff meetings and engage in performance improvement activitiesOther Duties:Assist management with additional tasks or projects as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Access Representative role within a Hospital, ER, or ClinicPrevious experience in medical registration, admitting, and scheduling in an ER setting is preferredNON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Support patient care areas by ensuring appropriate supplies are stockedAssist with patient restraint procedures and documentation as neededAttend scheduled meetings as requiredJOB COMPETENCIES:Proficient in navigating and utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Understanding and compliance with Hospital Policies and ProceduresCommitment to ongoing education and professional developmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Constant: Vision (various forms), Hearing, Speaking, Manual dexterity, MobilityFrequent: Bending, Squatting, Twisting, Lifting to 20 lbs. unaided, 50 lbs. with assistanceOccasional: Climbing, Kneeling, Distinguishing colorsRarely: Exposure to electric shock and confined spacesWORK ENVIRONMENT:OSHA Category I: Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or other potentially infectious materialsWork Location: In person
