Help create a brighter, stronger future for the children we serve at Shriners Children’s Southern California (SCSC). We are a family-centered, pediatric subspecialty Ambulatory Surgical Center located in Pasadena, providing complex care for children with orthopedic conditions.

Job Overview

The Patient Access Representative is the first point of contact for our patients and caregivers. This position provides support during a significant and life-changing event by working with caregivers to schedule appointments, perform pre-registration and registration of new and existing patients, and provide information regarding access to external financial resources. You will support patients with scheduling issues and provider questions, and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory agencies by obtaining necessary consents.

This position is per diem, non-exempt, and benefits-eligible. The pay range is $21.00 - $29.65/hour, based on experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls on the main operator line
  • Greet and direct patients/families for appointments and treatment
  • Enter and update patient information accurately in the computer system
  • Update patient insurance information
  • Check-in patients arriving for scheduled appointments or admissions
  • Prepare and secure signatures on treatment and billing authorization forms
  • Scan necessary documents into the EHR system
  • Verify insurance coverage for all patients receiving services

The working hours for this position are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

High School diploma required

Experience

Bilingual required

At least 1 year of experience in scheduling and registration

At least 1 year of receptionist/switchboard experience
