Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Registration Specialist to facilitate and complete the patient registration process. You will interview patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and provide at-site support to physicians and service lines to streamline patient flow.

The role requires a high school diploma, about 1 year of technical experience, basic medical terminology, and a typing speed of 40 wpm. Compensation ranges from $17.92 to $26.88 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient and insurances and obtain required signatures.
• Review physician orders and contact office if incomplete.
• Provide data to financially secure account for proper billing.
• Identify self-pay HAP and obtain necessary signatures.
• Screen ABNs for medical necessity and obtain signatures.
• Perform QA of daily registrations.
• Collect ED copays and balance cash/credit payments.
• Provide point-of-service assistance across system-wide service lines.
• Educate and orient new staff (SAR II).
• Meet productivity and quality standards.

Contacts physician office for new order if incomplete.• Contacts or refers to the appropriate individual/department to provide necessary data to financially secure account.• Identifies self-pay HAP, offers brochure and obtains required signatures.• Accurately screens ABNs to determine medical necessity, explains ABN to patient, obtains signatures and reviews document for completeness.• Performs QA of daily registrations• Collects ED copays.
