Job summary

Essentia Health’s Detroit Lakes Clinic is seeking a friendly Patient Access Representative to greet patients, collect demographic and financial information, and support registration and scheduling. You will work with clinical teams to ensure accurate data and smooth check-in for appointments.

This role involves cash handling, co-pay collection, and coordinating with Virtual Patient Registration staff to provide timely cost estimates and appointment itineraries.

Qualifications

• Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic and financial details.
• Performs point of service data collection, including identifying and collecting patient co-payments and down payments.
• Updates patient information in the medical record as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and facilitate the registration process in a timely, professional manner.
• Schedule follow-up appointments per physician’s order and provide cost estimates.
• Serve as liaison between patients and Virtual Patient Registration Representatives and Patient Schedulers.
• Complete patient checkout and restock basic supplies; answer incoming calls and route to clinical team as needed.
• Maintain work queues and ensure accurate revenue reporting.

Building Location:St Marys - Detroit Lakes ClinicDepartment:1006160 REGISTRATION - EH SSJob Description:This position will work a minimum of 8 hours every pay period. They will cross train into all areas including Clinic Registration, Emergency Department Registration, and Clinic Scheduling. The shifts will vary in times, and although this position won't be scheduled to work weekends, they will need to work one weekend shift every month when they are available to pick up.This position greets customers and facilitates the patient registration process in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. Interviews and obtains demographic and financial information from patients or their representatives through face-to-face and virtual interactions to provide Essentia Health with the documents and data necessary to ensure appropriate care and compliant, accurate patient registration and billing.This position serves as liaisons between patients and Virtual Patient Registration Representatives and Patient Schedulers.
