Job summary

Allina Health is seeking an in-person Patient Registration associate to welcome patients, collect demographic and insurance data, and guide them to appointments. You will verify benefits, collect co-pays, and explain available financial programs while assisting with paperwork and data entry.

The role supports care teams across departments, may assist with scheduling, and involves light administrative duties. Emphasis is on accuracy, empathy, and efficient workflow within a health system.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
• 0 to 2 years of experience using computer including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patient in person.
• Collects demographic and insurance information.
• Checks in or interviews patient to complete appropriate paperwork.
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure.
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments.
• Verifies eligibility and benefits information for payers and interprets results.
• Obtains signatures from patients as needed.
• Collects co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial programs available. Refers complex questions as needed.
• Uses resources, tools and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues.
• Assists patient in completion of request for information forms and submits to appropriate department.
• May gather medical record information from all departments for collection.
• May mentor new staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 0 to 2 years of customer service experience
• 0 to 2 years of general office experience
• 0 to 2 years of knowledge of the components of revenue cycle and health care insurance

Physical Demands

• Light Work:
• Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently
• 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
• 8-hour day shift
• No weekends

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.49 to $25.19 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
