Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first face for patients entering our facilities. This on-site role emphasizes empathy, accuracy in data collection, and professional interactions with patients and staff.

You will greeting patients, collect and verify demographic and insurance information, handle co-pays, and support registration processes across Monmouth Medical Center and related sites.

Qualifications

• Be able to cross train at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch & New Center opening in Tinton Falls!
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Developed understanding of healthcare operations and medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care is preferred.
• Tech savvy and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients in a timely, friendly manner and ensure respectful service.
• Collect demographic and insurance data, verify information and complete registration.
• Handle patient payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily cash in the PFS Department.
• Maintain accurate records and report safety issues or hazards.
• Assist in onboarding cross-training at Monmouth Medical Center and New Center.

The Patient Access Representative opening is the first face for a patient entering one of our RWJBH facilities! If you have empathy, customer service skills, an understanding of medical terminology, and love to be patient facing, please consider applying to this opening.

As a Patient Access Representative, a typical day might include:

• Playing a key role in the health system and in providing excellent customer service while ensuring timely throughput and capturing all necessary data timely.
• Greet all patients in a timely and friendly manner. A core function of this position is to ensure that all customers, external and internal, are treated with the highest level of respect.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for the patient during the registration process. Clearly review and communicate all forms and obtain required signatures for services provided.
• Ensure accuracy and thoroughness in collecting and documentation of the patient’s demographic and insurance information and utilizes the technology available to complete the registration.
• Participates in creating a positive environment for patient and colleague satisfaction. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments.
• Collecting co-payments, issuing receipts, and reconcile daily cash within the PFS Department.
