Full Time Patient Access Representative / Patient Account Representative at Health Care Resource Center is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative/Patient Account Representative to perform various administrative tasks. The role primarily involves patient billing, invoice verification, maintenance of third-party billing records, and problem resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Review, maintain, and process fiscal/account records and transactions related to patient accounts.
- Verify insurance benefits and billing information via terminal and/or telephone. Annotate accounts with insurance coverage and estimated patient shares.
- Contact third-party payers (insurance providers and government agencies) for payment posting.
- Resolve issues related to payment, billing, and authorization processes.
- Reconcile daily collected funds.
- Forward information to expedite payment processes.
- Maintain accurate account records, including signatures, demographics, and correspondence.
- Ensure completion of pre-authorization processes through inquiries and referrals.
- Monitor insurance authorizations and claim rejections.
- Maintain fiscal records and worksheets for calculations, extensions, and verifications.
- Perform tasks in accordance with billing and authorization requirements.
- Contact patients for payments or payment arrangements as per policy.
- Manage revenue cycle, production logs, balances, and collections for self-pay clients.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Assist with archiving discharged files.
- Respond to account information requests from payers, attorneys, and others.
- Backup Receptionist duties as needed: check-in patients, collect payments, answer phones, schedule, and data entry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years experience in a medical office setting.
- 2-4 years experience with Medicaid, PAC, and commercial insurance (preferred).
- Excellent customer service and professional communication skills, including telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Proficiency in basic PC skills; Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and establish effective relationships with patients and staff.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, manage stress, and provide excellent customer service.
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
