Full Time Patient Access Representative / Patient Account Representative
Health Care Resource Center is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Representative/Patient Account Representative to handle various administrative tasks with attention to detail. The role primarily involves patient billing, invoice verification, maintaining third-party billing records, and resolving related issues.
Responsibilities:
- Review, maintain, and process fiscal and account records related to patients.
- Verify insurance benefits and billing information via terminal and/or phone, and annotate accounts accordingly.
- Contact insurance providers and government agencies for payment processing.
- Resolve payment and billing issues, including authorization processes.
- Reconcile daily collections and forward information to expedite payments.
- Maintain accurate accounts with signatures, annotations, current demographics, and correspondence.
- Ensure completion of pre-authorization processes through inquiries and referrals.
- Monitor insurance authorizations and claim rejections.
- Maintain fiscal records for calculations, extensions, and verifications.
- Perform billing tasks in accordance with authorization and billing policies.
- Contact patients regarding payments or payment plans as per policy.
- Manage revenue cycle, production logs, balances, and collections for self-pay clients.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient records.
- Assist with archiving discharged files.
- Respond to information requests from payers, attorneys, and others.
- Provide backup reception duties: checking in patients, collecting payments, answering phones, scheduling, and data entry.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least 2 years’ experience in a medical office.
- Experience with Medicaid, PAC, and commercial insurance preferred.
- Excellent customer service and professional communication skills, including phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical insurance claims, documentation, and record maintenance.
- Proficiency in basic PC skills; Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work well with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and provide excellent customer service.
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
