Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative at the Main Campus in Columbus, OH. The part-time role supports greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, and managing charts and insurance information.

Training starts with a full-time week of 8am-4:30pm before transitioning to evening shifts Sunday-Wednesday 5-9:30 pm. The position requires a valid Ohio driver’s license for certain duties and strong computer and administrative skills, with CPR

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR certification required or as determined by manager.
  • One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients and families.
  • Interview and register patients in registration areas.
  • Schedule appointments and pull/file medical charts as needed.
  • Obtain accurate demographic and insurance information at registration.
  • Screen patient data for insurance eligibility and pre-certification/ referrals.

Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.**Job Description Summary:**The Patient Access Representative is responsible for greeting and registering patients, answering telephone calls, scheduling appointments, and pulling and filing medical charts when indicated.**Job Description:****Essential Functions:*** Provides excellent customer service to patients and families by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.* Interviews and registers patients in registration areas that report up through Patient Access.* Obtains accurate demographic, insurance, and physician information on registrations.* Screens customer data to ensure patient is eligible for insurance indicated. Communicates differences to the customer.* Screens registrations to ensure insurance pre-certification and physician referral requirements are met. Instructs customer on requirements.* Assists in identifying self-pay patients and referring them to financial assistance when applicable.
