Job description

Patient Access Rep

About City of Hope

City of Hope's mission is to make hope a reality for all touched by cancer and diabetes. Founded in 1913, it has grown into one of the largest and most advanced cancer research and treatment organizations in the U.S., and a leading center for diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. Its research has led to numerous breakthroughs, including cancer medicines, synthetic insulin, and monoclonal antibodies. With a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center ranked top 5 in the nation, City of Hope integrates cancer care, research, academics, training, and philanthropy. Its expanding system includes the Los Angeles campus, clinical locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, and treatment centers in Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix.

Position Details

This is an onsite full-time position, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm EST, serving as a float.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform tasks related to patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes for all patient types.
  2. Accurately collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information during registration.
  3. Manage check-in and check-out processes for registration appointments.
  4. Obtain and verify patient registration forms, ID cards, and insurance cards.
  5. Prepare for upcoming registration appointments by reviewing schedules and printing necessary documents.
  6. Review insurance benefits and account balances for upfront collections.
  7. Accept patient payments, issue receipts, and handle petty cash as needed.
  8. Ensure patient charts are complete and accurate with demographic and insurance data.
  9. Obtain and upload patient photos into the hospital's EHR system.
  10. Assist with department emails and answer registration hotline calls.
Job Qualifications - Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with computers, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office; EPIC experience is a plus.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Professional telephone etiquette and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
