Job summary

Conifer Health, a Tenet Healthcare company, seeks a Patient Access representative to support registration, scheduling, and financial clearance at Novant East Cooper Medical Center. The role includes collecting patient liabilities and verifying eligibility, with duties spanning multiple access areas including the Emergency Department.

The position requires strong customer service, basic math, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting, following Conifer Standards of Care.

Qualifications

• Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm
• Proficient PC/CRT/printer skills
• Customer service experience in a health care setting
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Clear oral and written communication
• Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements preferred
• Understanding of Compliance standards preferred
• Ability to work across at least two Patient Access areas including Emergency Department
• Negotiation techniques for collecting money owed
• Ability to interpret physician orders and insurance cards with Conifer standards of care

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and register at date of service following Conifer Standards of Care
• Explain and secure hospital and patient legal forms
• Scan Protected Health Information and prepare patient information packets
• Educate patients about financial liabilities and perform cash reconciliation and secure payment entry
• Verify insurance, benefits, coverage and eligibility; obtain authorizations and post-discharge coordination as needed
