Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a part-time Patient Access Specialist to join the hospital registration team at MelroseWakefield Hospital. The role focuses on revenue cycle activities including billing, collections, and pre-service financial clearance; you will collect demographic and financial information and schedule services.

You will interview patients, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, explain financial responsibilities, and process payments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year in customer service or hospital registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Pre-Registration for inpatients/outpatients with required data.
• Obtain consent and authorization for treatments as needed.
• Verify eligibility and insurance details; ensure proper plan codes.
• Collect auto or workers' comp information when applicable.
• Notify patients of financial responsibilities.
• Process patient payments and post to records per policy.
• Provide Financial Counselor contact info to eligible patients.
• Attach verification docs to patient accounts in the system.
• Request pre-certifications and referrals as required.
• Deliver excellent customer service and professional courtesy.
• Interact with physicians and staff professionally.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant handling of information.
