Job summary

You will pre-register patients, verify information, collect insurance details, answer phones, relay messages, and assist with paging and directives while maintaining confidentiality and a patient-centered approach.

Strong customer service, basic computer skills, and English communication are required; shifts include days or nights and weekdays or weekends.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• One year of excellent customer service required.
• At least one year of patient registration in a hospital setting preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Pre-register patients for scheduled admissions and out-patient procedures.
• Interview patients or representatives to obtain/verify information including emergency numbers and insurance details.
• Obtain signatures on Conditions of Admission and affix patient ID bracelet.
• Communicate with Supervisor, Nursing Service, co-workers, physicians and ancillary departments.
• Handle payments after Business Office hours, issue receipts, and forward to Business Office.
• Refer patients to Collections Manager when financial arrangements are needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization and composure in stressful situations.
• Treat patients and families with respect and confidentiality.
