Job summary

Advocate Health/West Allis location is seeking a Patient Service Representative (PSR) for the Revenue Cycle team. The role handles patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and financial responsibility while ensuring HIPAA compliance and accurate data entry.

This 0.8 FTE position works 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., starting in the emergency department with potential to learn other areas. Includes every-other-weekend and rotating holiday schedules.

Qualifications

• HIPAA-compliant and sensitive handling of patient information.
• Ability to work in a high-stress area and meet deadlines independently.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in data capture.
• Strong customer service and service-recovery skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Create the initial electronic health record and verify patient information.
• Check in patients, collect demographics, guarantor and insurance details; collect co-pays.
• Explain financial responsibilities and refer to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulations; obtain signatures as required.
• Schedule appointments and provide test prep and arrival guidance.
• Deliver courteous customer service and assist with transportation or interpreter needs.
• Manage electronic health record queues according to department processes.
