Job summary

MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Patient Access Services Representative to perform financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties for direct and scheduled patient admissions.

You will greet patients, check them in for services, exchange information, and ensure data is available for clinical staff as part of a collaborative team. The role requires strong communication and accurate data entry and offers a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

• Relevant customer service experience
• Excellent and demonstrated communication skills
• 1 year of patient registration, scheduling, or other clerical/customer service experience in a medical office setting preferred
• Ability to keyboard accurately and quickly

Responsibilities

• Performs financial clearance, registration, and clerical duties associated with point-of-service (POS) services
• Meets with patient or patient’s caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation
• Explains the process and addresses concerns and questions
• Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine placement
• Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization, and ensures verification of medical necessity as necessary
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers to financial counselors for follow up
• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy
