Job summary

Baptist Health in Alabama seeks a Patient Registration Specialist to support outpatient registration, pre-registration, payer ID, and at point-of-service collections. You will ensure accurate patient data entry and eligibility verification to support timely billing and financial counseling as needed.

The role requires knowledge of regulatory requirements (HIPAA/EMTALA) and the ability to coordinate with teams to resolve patient financial responsibilities. Weekend rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and registration of patients in outpatient settings.
• Payer identification and verification, referral to financial counseling.
• Collect at the point of service and ensure data accuracy in systems.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits.
• Understand regulatory requirements (HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare rules).
