Baptist Health in Prattville, AL seeks a Patient Registration Specialist to handle pre-registration, registration, payer verification, and at‑point‑of‑service collections. You will ensure accurate data entry for demographics and benefits, verify eligibility, and coordinate with financial counseling.

Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and HIPAA is essential. The role requires strong MS Office skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the capacity to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Associate degree in healthcare or business-related field preferred.
• Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Training experience a plus. Knowledge of government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.

Responsabilités

• Pre-registration and registration of patients; payer identification and verification; referral to financial counseling; and point of service collections.
• Ensure data gathered and entered into computer systems is accurate for patient demographic and benefit information.
• Verify benefits eligibility and limitations; coordinate benefits; collect patient financial responsibility at point of service.
• Understand regulatory requirements (Medicare Secondary Payer, Important Message from Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA).
• Perform additional duties within scope of the role as assigned.
