Job summary

Providence Swedish is hiring a registration specialist to support patient flow in the Seattle area. You will greet patients, collect demographics and financial data, and guide them through registration and billing questions at the point of service.

In this role you coordinate with physicians’ offices and the POS team, assist with financial aid processes, and help determine coverage options for hospital stays. A compassionate, patient-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• 2 years' experience in a medical setting, inpatient or outpatient admitting.
• Experience in patient registration or financial counseling or insurance terminology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate information and support for patient flow in the hospital and ED environment.
• Provide front line customer service including reception and Registration.
• Interview patients and families to obtain demographics and financial data; obtain consents.
• Assist with questions on billing, insurance or collections; direct to appropriate staff.
• Facilitate financial assistance processes and alternate coverage options for hospital stays.
• Serve as POS team expert to support registration activities during hospitalization.
• Coordinate coverage issues with Physician Offices and POS team; ensure timely/accurate patient information.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and special project assignments.
• Be flexible for unscheduled shifts or coverage needs.
