Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist to manage pre-registration, on-site registration, payer identification, and benefit verification. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in healthcare or business preferred.
• At least 2 years' experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish desirable.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid programs.

Responsibilities

• Handle pre-registration and registration of patients.
• Identify and verify payers and benefits.
• Refer to financial counseling as needed.
• Collect patient financial responsibility at the point of service.
• Ensure accurate entry of demographic and benefit information.
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA and Medicare rules.
