Job summary

Baptist Health in Central Alabama seeks a Patient Registration Specialist to support pre-registration, registration, and payer verification at the point of service. You will collect and verify patient demographics and benefits data, coordinate with financial counseling, and secure timely payment collections while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and EMTALA rules.

The role requires a high school diploma, one to two years in patient access or financial services, and preferably an associate’s degree

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare or business preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in a medical or hospital patient access or financial services environment preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid programs.

Responsibilities

• Handle pre-registration and registration of patients.
• Identify payer information and verify eligibility.
• Refer patients to financial counseling as needed.
• Perform point-of-service collections and data entry of demographics and benefits.
• Understand regulatory requirements (HIPAA, EMTALA) and ensure compliance.
