Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy Medical Center in Merced, CA is seeking a Representative, Patient Registration to guide patients through the registration process, collect accurate demographic data and verify insurance information to determine financial responsibility.

You will maintain up-to-date registration requirements across units, document admissions in the ADT system, and refer patients to the Patient Registration Specialist for financial counseling when needed, ensuring a smooth patient journey.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in a hospital Patient Registration or related setting.
• Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.
• Applicable education and/or training can balance a lack of experience.
• Two years of experience in patient registration and understanding of charity care programs (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Register patients with accurate demographic information and insurance details in the ADT system.
• Verify insurance benefits and document verification data for billing.
• Explain and facilitate financial clearance and payer communications as needed.
• Refer patients to the Patient Registration Specialist for financial counseling or clearance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements across units (Main Admitting, OP, ED, Maternity, Rehabilitation).
• Ensure CMS and hospital regulatory requirements are met and documented.
