Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions courteously and promptly
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers scheduled patients with accurate demographic information
• Verifies insurance eligibility and captures correct health insurance details
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable
• Communicates operative reports to physician offices daily
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient records
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and questions
• Documents consent forms when patients cannot sign and notes signer details as needed
• Places an armband on each patient for proper identification
• Answers and returns calls with professionalism and courtesy
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance
• Complies with all policies and standards
