Job summary

UNM Hospital is seeking a supervising administrator to lead Patient Services Representatives, Patient Care Coordinators, and prior authorization staff within the UNMHS Appointment Center. You will ensure referrals and authorizations are obtained for elective or non-urgent services and coordinate communications with insurance providers.

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• 3 years directly related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• APPOINTMENTS - Assist staff with scheduling and coordinating ancillary service and clinic appointments
• ASSIGNMENT - Oversee and assign case loads and staff hours
• CONTINUITY OF CARE - Collaborate to ensure continuity of patient care across settings
• COVERAGE - Organize case coverage during staff absence
• CUSTOMER SERVICE - Conduct appropriate customer relations activities
• DOCUMENTATION - Provide routine documentation for patient progress
• EDUCATION - Develop educational mechanisms to review staff skills
• LIAISON - Act as liaison between staff and UNMH departments
• OPERATIONS - Oversee operations, schedule staff, and resolve problems
• POLICY & PROCEDURE - Develop and maintain referral and scheduling policies
• REIMBURSEMENT - Ensure optimal reimbursement from payers
• REPORTS - Create monthly reports on denial activity by department
• ADMINISTRATION - Admin tasks and possible research participation
• SUPERVISION - Supervise staff and performance
