Job summary

SWLA CENTER FOR HEALTH SERVICES is seeking a Patient Access Referral Coordinator in the Physician Referrals department. The role ensures confidentiality and smooth processing of patient referral documents, coordinating between internal teams and external providers.

The position requires 2+ years post-high school training in office management or similar study, plus 1 year of medical office experience and terminology knowledge. Strong organizational skills and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years post-high school training in office management and one year of medical office work experience.
• One year of medical terminology.
• Able to work without supervision and understand English grammar and office etiquette.
• Clerical skills and ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, etc.).
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
• Organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task establishes priorities, works independently and proceeds with objectives without supervision.
• Clear speech and adequate hearing and vision are necessary for clerical activities.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and arrange appointments for referred patients.
• Mail and/or fax referral forms to designated providers and track them.
• Notify patients of appointments and answer questions.
• Maintain a record of outbound referrals and log them into the tracking system.
• Receive patient records/referrals and forward to Medical Records for scanning.
• Request additional information from providers and call hospitals/physician offices for details.
• Assist COO/Referral Supervisor with clerical activities and HIPAA tasks as needed.
• Perform related functions as assigned.

Education

Two years post-high school training in office management

One year of medical office work experience

One year of medical terminology

Able to work without supervision
