Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join the Katy team. Training will be conducted at the Texas Medical Center until the Katy location opens in November/December.

Responsibilities include collecting demographic, insurance and financial information, verifying eligibility, posting payments, and providing clear patient guidance. Minimum education is a high school diploma with at least one year of hospital/medical office experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting is required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains demographic, insurance and financial information from patient or guarantor.
• Enters information accurately into the computer system.
• May schedule patient appointments and enter required information in the system.
• Explains forms to patient or guarantor and collects necessary signatures.
• Ensures medical necessity/eligibility by data review and confirming signatures.
• Collects patient liability, establishes payment arrangements and discusses payment options.
• Completes complex financial counseling and charity applications as needed.
• Identifies alternative resources for financial reimbursement.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits and posts payments in the system.
• Communicates professionally with physicians, care management, departments, insurers and patients.
