Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, CA is seeking a Patient Access Associate to manage patient intake, verify demographics and eligibility, and collect financial information. You will work in a hospital-based environment across departments to ensure accurate registration and smooth patient flow.

You will communicate effectively with patients and families, explain financial responsibilities, and help applying for Banner Financial Assistance or setting up payment plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Customer service or patient financial services experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Typing ability and knowledge of office software are required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographics and input into EHR to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.
• Cover multiple services (inpatient, observation, emergency, obstetrics, surgery, imaging).
• Understand and verify insurance benefits.
• Provide excellent customer service and first impression for patients.
• Submit timely payer notifications per insurance guidelines to reduce denials.
• Obtain required compliance information and complete CMS forms.
• Discuss financial liability with patients and assist with payment plans or Banner Financial Assistance.
• Support additional tasks such as transporting patients, training new hires, and posting deposits.
