Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED, or 2–5 years healthcare experience.
• Six months or more of progressive work experience.
• One year of hospital outpatient scheduling and/or insurance verification experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, coding rules and guidelines preferred.
• Strong computer and multitasking skills; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Financially clear outpatient referrals by validating orders, checking medical necessity, verifying insurance, and obtaining authorizations when needed.
• Pre-register patients and schedule procedures/visits in the correct department and location.
• Communicate financial responsibility to patients and document communication in the chart.
• Maintain accuracy targets (e.g., 98%) and meet productivity standards.
• Support team by assisting co-workers and handling multiple priorities.
