Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid payors.
• Basic medical terminology understanding.
• MS Office proficiency expected.
• Fluency in English; bilingual in English/Spanish may be required in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships.
• Identify and triage patient upon arrival to the hospital.
• Answer phones, record messages and route to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as needed.
• Enter accurate demographics to support revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in the system.
• Obtain required insurance authorizations where applicable.
• Facilitate transfers between hospitals when needed.
• Maintain cash drawer and log patient payments and admissions.
