Job summary

Emerus in Carlisle, PA is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our admissions team. You will verify demographics, collect payments, and secure insurance information to support the revenue cycle.

Responsibilities include confirming insurance benefits, obtaining signatures on forms, coordinating transfers when needed, and delivering courteous customer service while protecting patient privacy under HIPAA and EMTALA guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting.
• Strong knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; bilingual (Spanish) may be required in specific markets.
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all other regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival and ensure proper identification.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor information.
• Obtain insurance authorizations where applicable.
• Pursue collections at the time of service with a service-oriented approach.
• Scan and store registration and clinical documents in the system.
