Job summary

Summa Health in Akron, OH is seeking a Patient Access Liaison I to handle front-line‑level services in the Clinical Access Center. The role encompasses call handling, appointment scheduling, pre-service registration, insurance verification, and collecting co-pays, with a focus on delivering excellent patient service.

Full-time days with occasional Saturday hours, and a potential opportunity to work from home after successful on-site training.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
One year of customer service or general office experience required or preferred.
Call center / registration and insurance verification experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist callers and patients with scheduling, registration, and referrals.
Verify insurance and collect co-pays.
Answer questions and guide patients to appropriate services.

Summary

Assists callers and/or patients in the following capacities: way-finding, appointment scheduling, pre-service registration, insurance verification, co-pay collection, physician referral, initial screening of patient sign/symptoms, class scheduling and any other questions or concerns. Provides a high level of customer service to present a positive impression of Summa Health.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Formal Education Required:
a. High school diploma/GED required
b. Post high school level coursework in healthcare, accounting, business, public relations or related field preferred.

Experience and Training Required

a. One (1) year experience performing customer service or general office support experience in any industry preferred.
b. Contact or call center experience preferred.
c. Experience in Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre-Certification, Financial counseling, Patient Accounts a plus

Level of Physical Demands

a. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods up to 12 hours depending on location
b. Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned

$17.43/hr - $20.92/hr

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
