Job summary

Inova Health in Northern Virginia is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Lead to join our team. This full-time, hybrid role focuses on overseeing intake operations, registration, and documentation while driving process improvements.

You will monitor KPIs, coordinate financial counseling and insurance/contract workflows, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and related regulations. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of patient access experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient intake, registration and documentation; monitor KPIs and lead improvements.
• Lead administrative and technology operations; train staff on new tools and system updates.
• Coordinate case management tasks; monitor metrics and streamline handoffs.
• Lead financial counseling initiatives and monitor related metrics.
• Coordinate insurance and contract processes; train staff accordingly.
• Guide patient communication and advocate for service equity.
• Coordinate utilization review to reduce denials.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and applicable regulations.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Patient Intake, Registration & Documentation: Oversees intake operations, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and leads documentation and registration improvements.
• Administrative & Technology Operations: Leads process improvements and trains staff on new tools and system updates.
• Case Management Tasks: Monitors metrics and streamlines case management handoffs.
• Financial Counseling: Monitors metrics and leads financial improvement initiatives.
• Insurance & Contract Coordination: Leads accuracy initiatives, monitors trends, and trains staff in insurance and contract coordination.
• Patient Communication & Advocacy: Leads messaging initiatives, coaches staff, and promotes service equity among patients.
• Utilization Review Coordination: Coordinates with UR teams to reduce denials.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations
• May perform additional duties as assigned

Additional Requirements
