Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Patient Account Registrar to interview patients or their representatives, collect demographics, and secure insurance details including eligibility, benefits, and authorizations. You'll work with Admitting, PBX, and reception areas while entering data accurately and using age-appropriate communication across all patient populations.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer Services experience required.
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required.

Responsibilities

• Interview the patient or representative to obtain patient demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Work closely with the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate with the population served using age-specific techniques from neonatal to geriatrics.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments within a specified timeframe.
