Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a patient services representative to support the clinic by scheduling appointments, registering patients, and handling demographic and financial information for billing and insurance.

The role acts as a liaison between patients, nurses, and physicians, answers calls, and processes referrals. Successful candidates have strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication in English.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in a clinical office with front desk and insurance experience.
• Knowledge of insurance plans and guidelines.
• Ability to obtain authorizations and pre-certifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communications in English.
• Basic arithmetic skills for cashiering.
• Data entry experience.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow.
• Handle stressful situations professionally.
• Conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Interview patients to obtain demographic and financial information.
• Register patients and perform registration functions.
• Obtain signatures and documentation for billing and insurance purposes.
• Order laboratory tests and other tests via the computer system.
• Perform end-of-day disposition and gather statistics.
• Announce patient arrivals and answer department calls.
• Serve as liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and others.
• Process referral requests and obtain referral/authorization numbers when needed.
