Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a detail-oriented Admissions Clerk to provide outpatient admissions services aligned with BRRH mission, vision and values. You will pre-register and register patients, verify insurance, obtain precertifications, and coordinate with the Business Office to ensure timely patient accounts.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, excellent organization, and experience with Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Customer Services Experience Required.
• Oral and Written Communication Skills Required.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.
• Good organizational skills.
• Prior experience in Insurance or Patient Registration in healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers and registers patients.
• Verifies insurance and obtains precertification/authorization prior to patient admission.
• Coordinates insurance coverage with patients, insurance company and Business Office.
• Enters charges and codes into billing software and data logs accurately.
• Completes admissions paperwork and scans patient information into the system.
• Maintains compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
