Job summary

CommuniCare+OLE is seeking an Access Representative I to join the Medical department at our St. Helena location. You will greet patients, perform front-desk duties, screen insurance eligibility, pre-register patients, and handle payments while maintaining confidentiality.

This nonexempt hourly role reports to the Access Supervisor and supports a patient-centered care environment. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish/Dari/Punjabi/Vietnamese), has CPR certification, and demonstrates

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Entry level position; one year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish/Dari/Punjabi/Vietnamese strongly preferred.
• Must certify and remain current in CPR certification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail required.
• Data entry skills, Microsoft Office, and Electronic Health Record system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates exceptional customer service with patients and colleagues.
• Input patient data accurately on records before saving to EMR.
• Screen patients for insurance eligibility and refer self-pay patients to Eligibility Specialist before scheduling.
• Answer calls promptly and document encounters accurately.
• Schedule appointments and pre-register patients, with reminder calls as needed.
• Collect co-pays and payments, balance cash receipts daily.
• Protect patient privacy and secure PHI; dispose of PHI properly.
• Greet patients at entry and assist with initial check-in process.
• Assist in training new staff and support policy-compliant workflow.
• Collaborate to follow managed care procedures for service authorization.
