Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX is seeking a PRS II to facilitate access to services and coordinate financial arrangements for new and returning patients. This role communicates with patients, referral sources, and the treatment team regarding access and financial issues.

The position serves as an information resource, performs advanced patient registration duties, and supports continuous improvement in reimbursement processes. Onsite night shift will be required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent.
• 3 years’ experience with billing, financial screening, insurance verification, collections, and/or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Verify demographic and Third Party Payer information.
• Perform and teach COR, ED, Admitting Registrations functions as defined in the CBO tool.
• Verify all patient demographic, insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements.
• Screen patient for financial responsibility and possible cash collections.
• Determine potential reimbursement sources and direct patients to financial assistance programs.
• Determine and collect appropriate deposits.
• Facilitate referrals and prior authorizations.
• Determine eligibility of third party programs.
• Maintain knowledge of ABN and PPA forms.
• Ensure quality and productivity standards are met.
• Assist in training and mentoring new employees.
