Job summary

Alameda Health System is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support ambulatory care registration and financial screening. You will interview patients, verify eligibility, collect payments, and help enroll eligible patients into financial assistance programs.

As part of the care team, you will educate patients about services, coordinate with providers, and maintain accurate records in the EHR and billing systems.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum experience with computer and telephone systems.
• Medical terminology knowledge is preferred but not required.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care and excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with patients and healthcare providers for coordinated care.
• Registration and pre-registration for ambulatory care services; interview patients for billing; scheduling.
• Advise patient/guarantor of financial obligations and collect payments.
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for ambulatory services.
• Explain and educate patients about services and resources.
• Determine enrollment options for financial assistance programs.
• Maintain records of unit productivity, patient location, registration and discharge.
