Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years healthcare or related experience preferred.
• Ability to complete pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, benefits verification, certification, referral management, patient liability collections, and medical necessity checks.
• Ability to interview patients and guarantors to obtain financial assistance screening information.
• Ability to verify eligibility and benefit levels.
• Ability to coordinate referrals and obtain treatment authorizations.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to patients, guarantors, and family members.

Responsibilities

• Complete the financial clearance process within Patient Access Services.
• Create a positive first impression of WTH’s services for patients, families, and external customers.
• Pre-register and register patients.
• Verify insurance, benefits, eligibility, group and ID numbers, and billing addresses.
• Conduct financial screenings and refer accounts for financial counseling or eligibility assessments.
• Inform families about government and financial assistance programs.
• Coordinate referrals and obtain treatment authorizations.
• Complete medical necessity checks and refer denied or failed cases to the designated area.
• Maintain daily work queues and correspondence according to department guidelines.
• Advise the next-level leader about possible postponements or deferrals of unapproved elective or non-emergent admissions.
• Maintain accurate pre-processing files.
• Investigate, resolve, and document patient problems.
• Collaborate with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance payers, and external sources
