Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Patient Access Liaison to educate patients and caregivers and provide reimbursement support. This field-based role serves adults and pediatric patients, acting as the primary contact for disease state and therapy access questions, both in person and virtually.

You will build relationships, assess needs, educate on insurance coverage and administration, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, with up to 50% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years in a direct patient support role; ability to explain disease state, product, and access/reimbursement concepts at a consumer level.
  • Clinical/Allied Health degree/licensure preferred; at least 5 years clinical experience in pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or related.
  • Minimum 2 years pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Preferred: experience with orphan/rare disease product launches; educating patients/caregivers on injectable administration; reimbursement education.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA requirements, and OIG Compliance.
  • Ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively cross-functionally, adapt quickly, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for patients/caregivers for disease state, Ascendis products, and therapy access/administration questions.
  • Build and maintain patient/caregiver relationships via in-person and virtual interactions.
  • Assess individual patient needs and develop an action plan using approved resources to empower advocacy.
  • Provide individualized education on disease state and product using approved resources.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage and the process to obtain therapy.
  • Conduct medication administration education once coverage is established.
  • Provide information on affordability resources as needed.
  • Manage long-term relationships with patients and care teams via tailored communication plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams; partner with Patient Advocacy and attend patient education symposia as needed.
  • Partner with Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance (PV) and Complaint Management/Compliance to report AEs and product complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Travel up to 50% (including overnight, patient home visits, and some weekend travel).
