Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking an Admission & Discharge Specialist to manage patient intake and discharge, collect information and payments, support scheduling, and maintain accurate records. You will work under supervision to ensure a smooth patient flow and high-quality care experience.

Key duties include greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance, assisting with paperwork, providing financial counseling, and supporting referrals and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational, customer service and communication skills are required.
• Ability to collect and verify demographic and insurance information and use registration systems.
• Experience with patient scheduling, portal access, and basic billing or charitable processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in a positive, courteous manner and directs them as needed.
• Collects demographic and insurance information and verifies eligibility.
• Assists with admissions, scheduling, and transfers to dedicated service areas.
• Provides financial counseling and Charity/Medicaid-related support.
• Maintains and updates patient records across multiple systems.
• Reviews billing edits and supports claims/billing review to drive efficient patient flow.
