Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is seeking a Coordinator PreService to oversee patient access and pre-service workflow, ensuring efficient department operations and high-quality service. You will lead a small team, mentor staff, and participate in policy development with leadership.

Responsibilities include coordinating adjacent clerical and technical support, using EPIC and other systems, and pursuing certification (HFMA CRCR/NAHAM CHAA) within a year.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent / GED Minimum of three (3) years experience with competency in patient access, pre-service & / or registration experience. Ability to obtain a national certification in HFMA CRCR & / or NAHAM CHAA within one (1) year of hire.
• Process Focus: Utilizes multiple system applications for data collection & management. Incorporates basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices & processes to ensure quality, confidentiality & safety are prioritized.
• Collaborate on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency & patient experience.
• Previous Leadership Experience
• Knowledge of federal or state government agencies including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, VA or Charity Care programs, or patient management & healthcare accounts receivable within the revenue cycle.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operational, technical & / or clerical support services that enhance coordination, preparation & flow of the department process.
• Plans & organizes workflows & prioritizes customers’ needs. May lead a small team; serves as a mentor.
• Creates & maintains procedural standards & records for role. Develops & maintains educational programs for the team members, including new employee orientation.
• Coordinates patient access, pre-service & / or registration activities to ensure smooth intake processes.
• Supports policy development and performance feedback with leadership.
• Maintains flexibility for on-call rotations and varying shift hours, including weekends/holidays as needed.
