Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a leader for the Patient Access team within Emergency Registration. This full-time role supports workflow, staffing, and process improvement to ensure quality and timely patient access services.

The position emphasizes collaboration with leadership, onboarding of new colleagues, and ongoing education to meet performance goals in a fast-paced on-site setting. Emphasis on scheduling, registration, and financial clearance across the ED.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent / GED.
  • Minimum of three years experience in patient access, pre-service and/or registration.
  • Ability to obtain HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within one year of hire.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in operations and staffing of patient access areas.
  • Coordinate patient flow to ensure smooth workload distribution.
  • Develop policies for patient information, registration, and financial processes.
  • Lead onsite orientation and participate in staff education.

Range for rate of pay: $19.45-$26.02

Position Purpose:

Provides leadership and support to the patient access team.

Provides oversight & support of the workflow & functions in accordance with level of experience, education &standards. Assumes an expanded role & increased responsibility including delegating to others. Participates in the development of & the process improvement of policies & procedures. Works closely with leadership to maintainefficient & effective operations to ensure quality in daily operations.May partner with leadership with the selection, orientation & performance feedback of the team. Workscooperatively to ensure that key customer needs are being met & achievement of operational & performancegoals.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent / GED

Minimum of three (3)years experiencewith competency in patient access, pre-service & / or registration experience.

Ability to obtain a national certification in HFMA CRCR & / or NAHAM CHAA within one (1) year of hire.

Additional Qualifications (nice to have)

PreviousLeadership Experience

Knowledge of federal or state government agencies including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, VA or Charity Care programs, or patient management & healthcare accounts receivable within the revenue cycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Works cross-functionally toassistthe manager or supervisor in the operations & staffing of varied Patient Access areas & activities including but not limited to, registration, scheduling, financial clearance & emergency department.
  • Coordinates & prioritizes patient flow toensuressmooth distribution of workload to the Patient Registration Representatives toexpeditecustomer service, patient safety & patient throughput.
  • Assistsin the development of policies & procedures for patient information, wayfinding, office management, patient registration, financial screening, point of service collections, patient check-in processes & patient placement.
  • Leads & coordinates the onsite orientation of new colleagues, is an active participant in the ongoing education of colleagues & makes recommendations to managementregardingperformance evaluations.
