Job summary

MUSC is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to support patients and caregivers by overcoming healthcare system barriers and coordinating access to care. The role acts as a liaison between patients and the hospital care team, promoting informed decisions and timely care while facilitating communication across providers.

Position involves sophisticated scheduling, template and referral processes, with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality and excellent interpersonal communication under deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with three years of healthcare experience or higher education equivalents.
• Typing speed 35 CWPM and basic computer skills are required.
• Experience with EPIC, Medical Terminology and Microsoft Outlook is expected.
• Strong scheduling, organizational and communication abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Schedule multidisciplinary and ancillary clinics across the enterprise.
• Coordinate series scheduling and template management to enable overbooking and resource alignment.
• Manage referral authorization processes and financial/drug assistance resources awareness.
• Ensure accurate follow-up appointments with strong attention to detail.
• Maintain professional communication with patients, caregivers and care teams.
