Job summary

Optum, a part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring a hospital patient registrar for the Emergency Department in Glendale, CA. You will ensure accurate ADT entries, verify patient identity, collect data for CMS requirements, and manage patient documents at on-site registration.

The role requires 2+ years in patient registration or related setting, knowledge of insurance policies, and proficiency with medical terminology and computer systems. On-site shifts and competitive pay are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years in hospital patient registration or related revenue-cycle role.
• 2+ years understanding of commercial and government insurance policies.
• 1+ years handling financial payments.
• 1+ years of medical terminology experience.
• Intermediate computer proficiency.
• Ability to work on-site 1420 S Central Ave., Glendale CA 91204.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for all areas.
• Enter demographic information accurately into the ADT system.
• Identify patient to prevent duplicate MRNs.
• Review accounts for accuracy and required documentation.
• Meet CMS billing requirements and document completion in hospital system.
• Enter required data into ADT with emphasis on demographics and financial data.
• Verify information with patient at registration and correct errors.
• Identify forms requiring signatures and obtain them.
• Scan required documents into systems.
• Provide patient hand-outs (Rights, HIPAA, Advance Directive).
• Follow downtime procedures and EMTALA-compliant steps.
