Job summary

IU Health in Lafayette, IN is seeking team members for a patient-facing administrative role. You will manage patient flow, collect and verify financial and demographic information, schedule appointments, explain charges, and handle payments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, with preferred healthcare experience and basic MS Office proficiency. Training on ICD-10/CPT coding and insurance interpretation may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in a health care setting is preferred.
• Ability to learn and retain medical coding: ICD-10; CPT coding is preferred.
• Ability to interpret insurance information and understand clinical practices and medical terminology is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Facilitates patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
• Obtains information to generate accurate financial and demographic records for patients to ensure reimbursement and outcomes.
• Schedules appointments, interviews patients, explains charges and policies, enters charges, and collects payments.
• Answers incoming calls and directs patients and visitors appropriately.
