Job summary

Southeast Health is a not-for-profit health system serving the southeast region. We are seeking a patient access and billing support professional to register/admit patients, collect billing information, and ensure pre-authorizations are obtained for services.

The role requires strong communication skills, basic typing and computer skills, and the ability to work with a courteous, professional attitude in a busy health care setting as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Prefer one year of hospital or clinic revenue cycle experience.
• Medical terminology knowledge required.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• Medical terminology may be covered via SEH training during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide answers to inquiries and questions.
• Troubleshoot problems and provide information.
• Handle intervention or referrals with a professional and respectful customer service focus telephonically and/or in person.
• Provide a variety of support services in connection to day-to-day operations in a health care environment.
• First and ongoing point of contact for all clients either by phone or in person.
• Provide scheduling or patient enrollment for services.
• Enter/update all demographic information, financial/billing information, caregiver contact information, and additional information needed to complete patient record.
• Verify third party payer coverage and collect self-pay balances.
• Schedule patient for planned clinical services; make referrals to resources.
• Must stay calm while interacting with clients; adapt to fast paced environment; multi-tasking.
• Provide estimates for clinical services; perform transcription of basic orders in software system for patient account processing; obtain authorizations when required; obtain signatures for billing and treatment; coordinate self-pay workflows; assist patients with SE Health financial assistance programs.
