Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Medical Assistant for Registry/Per Diem roles within Banner Staffing Services. The position supports outpatient cardiology and related departments, with a Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm schedule.

The role emphasizes patient registration, insurance verification, and front-end financial processes, while delivering quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Requires knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience processes normally acquired over one or more years of work experience.
• Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and to work independently.
• Requires strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of audiences.
• Strong knowledge in the use of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs registration/check-in processes, including data entry and providing patients with information and intake forms.
• Verifies insurance eligibility benefits for services rendered with payors and documents appropriately.
• Calculates and collects patient liability and explains financial policies to patients and families.
• Enters payments/charges for services rendered and performs daily reconciliation; balances cash drawer and prepares daily deposits.
• Schedules office visits and procedures, maximizing reimbursement and confirming next-day appointments.
• Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications to handle patient concerns via calls, emails, and in-person conversations.
• Responds to requests for patient medical records per policies and laws.
• Provides patient services to assist in flow, including escorting patients, taking vitals, and managing supplies.
• Works independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with sound judgment for timely patient care.
