Job summary

Emerus in Keller, Texas seeks a Patient Access Specialist to join our hospital network. You will obtain demographics, verify eligibility, collect payments, and support the revenue cycle by securing out-of-pocket responsibility while delivering courteous patient service.

The role requires High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of patient registration/insurance verification experience, and knowledge of major insurance plans. English fluency and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting is preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors is required.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.
• Spanish language ability is required in the El Paso market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA and applicable regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with patients and payors.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and confirm correct payor and plan.
• Obtain, verify, and enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer service oriented fashion.
• Scan registrations and clinical documents into the system and maintain medical records.
• Assist with transferring patients to other hospitals when necessary.
