Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Part-time Patient Access Specialist at the Zarzamora facility. The role involves serving as a liaison between patients, payers, and health care teams to verify demographics, secure payments, and maximize hospital reimbursement.

Responsibilities include ensuring accurate registration, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations when needed, and aiding with patient transfers. A strong customer service focus and knowledge of EMTALA, DNV, and HIPAA compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting is preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate demographic information for accounts to support revenue cycle processes.
• Verify insurance benefits and confirm correct payor and plan in the patient accounting system.
• Answer and route telephone calls professionally and record messages for medical staff.
• Obtain, verify, and enter required demographic information and signatures on forms and consents.
• Assist with coordination and transfer of patients to other hospitals when needed.
• Maintain logs of patients, payments, transfers and admissions and ensure compliant record handling.
